A/V System Rehab: Pewaukee, Wisconsin

Custom Audiovisual System Upgrade for Pewaukee Residential Home in Southeast Wisconsin

We just finished up an audiovisual system rehab in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. The photos below show the first part of the system update; we’ll post additional photos of this project, and the other work done, shortly.

We installed 65 inch Samsung TV with an upgraded SnapAV sound bar above the fireplace, while incorporating other components into the built-in bookcase. This new equipment replaced two old bookshelf front speakers. Additionally we added a sub woofer to the system improving the sound quality dramatically. The components for the sound bar system are designed to interact wirelessly to the sub so there’s no need to run a cable from one to the other.

We added the MX HomePro controller, a universal remote control, giving the homeowner control of all the equipment behind the closed doors of the cabinet from one interface. This remote control also allows you to keep up to eight of your favorite apps—such as Facebook and other lifestyle apps—in a scrolling bar to easily launch in a snap.

Finally in this area we replaced an old receiver that didn’t have any music streaming capabilities, with a new current Yamaha RXV683. The new Yamaha receiver comes equipped with Yamaha streaming application “Music Cast” allowing the client to turn on and off his equipment, and select music streaming choices, directly from his phone or universal remote control.

The client was extremely happy that we were able to utilize his existing equipment, giving us the ability to deliver key features the client was looking for, while updating to current technology, and only purchasing new equipment where necessary.

If you’re thinking about adding an audiovisual system in your home, or just want to hide your existing cables and boxes, please contact me to set up a free consultation.

Fun A/V Installation Project: Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin

Custom Audiovisual Installation Project: Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin

Well we have another fun installation project for you folks located in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.

As you can see from the project photos below this was a tough installation. This home is an existing 1940s brick home that was recently renovated with over 1400 square feet added to it, resulting in three different attic spaces, making it next to impossible to maneuver around to add cabling. This just shows how committed BC Neville tech is to getting cabling where it is needed, and doing it the right way, without having exposed wires—no project is too challenging for us!

We implemented two home theaters, six additional zones of built-in ceiling speakers, and one pair outdoor rock speakers powered by Sonos streaming system. We also implemented a Hikvision six camera surveillance system, featuring an 8-channel two TB NVR, in this home. We installed cameras in several rooms throughout the home giving the client the ability to keep an eye on the nanny. The exterior cameras allow the client to view his entire front yard, including the front door and his backyard, with pan tilt and zoom capability.

Equipment used on this job: Hikvision Surveillance System, Sony TVs, Yamaha receivers, Sonos zone players, Proficient in-wall and in-ceiling theater speakers, Panamax surge protection, Luxul wireless equipment and network switches, URC’s universal remote control, Home Pro controller’s giving the owner the ability to walk freely throughout his home in control all of his entertainment systems, with either the universal system controller, or simply at the touch of his hands with his iPhone or tablet.

If you’re thinking about adding an audio visual system in your home, or just want to hide your existing cables and boxes, please contact me to set up a free consultation.

A/V Installation: Delafield, WI Lake Home

Custom Audiovisual Installation in a Delafield Lake Home

We’re currently working on an A/V installation in a new construction Delafield, WI lake home. There are three phases to the installation process: prewire, trim, and finish. The photos below are showing the trim phase.

I begin by working with you to determine what type of equipment and set up is best for your needs. From there, I work in coordination with the builder and contractors to ensure we’re in sync throughout each installation phase.

The prewire work is done at the same time the electricians are wiring the home, we then install all the speakers and plates during the trim phase, and the equipment installation takes place during the final finish phase. I take care of everything for you from beginning to end—we even have the equipment on hand—so you don’t have to worry about anything.

This project includes 6.5″ Proficient Pivoting Speakers from their Protege Architectural line that will be controlled with the client’s iPhone or iPad via a multi-zone or multi-source audio system. The speakers are small but with their built-in tweeters and subwoofers—all adjustable via your iPhone—put out a crisp powerful sound.

You’ll notice the seamless look of the built-in speakers in the living room and kitchen, the Protege series has a thin bezel design—eliminating the wide plastic flange—allowing the speakers to blend high in with your ceilings or walls.

The speaker plates can be painted to color match your ceiling or walls so they’re barely noticeable, and the best part is that because they’re ceiling mounted they take up absolutely no floor space.

Should you ever move your furniture around, the pivoting speakers can be adjusted so that you experience the best sound no matter where you’re sitting in the room.

We look forward to showing pictures of the finished project in September.

Outdoor Audiovisual System Installation: Oak Creek, WI

Custom Home Theater Audiovisual Installation in Outdoor Living Space: Oak Creek, WI

This week we started and amazing outdoor audiovisual system installation in Oak Creek, WI with two separate dedicated audio zones featuring Proficient 6.5″ all weather outdoor speakers and an LG 65″ Ultra 4K HD flatscreen TV. The LED screen on this TV is crystal clear with vibrant colors, and is perfect for an outdoor application.

The TV will be mounted in the outdoor bar area with a Peerless Full-Motion Articulating Arm, and will be enclosed in an outdoor enclosure, furnished by Apollo Enclosures, allowing the TV to remain outside year round—even during our bitterly cold Wisconsin Winters.

Apollo Enclosures have anti-reflective safety glass, seals your TV against rain, dust and insects, and the temperature controlled air-flow system protects your TV in extreme cold and extreme heat—from -4ºF to 122º F.

The family will be able to control the entire system with their smart phone via Yamaha’s Music Play app.

I always work with my clients to give them the best audio visual system, and equipment, that meets their needs. This family loves spending time outside with friends; by transforming their patio into an outdoor kitchen and living area, they’ve doubled their space for entertaining.

Imagine yourself grilling steaks and burgers, surrounded by all of your friends and family, watching the Packers games while relaxing outside in the cool autumn Wisconsin weather—it would be even be fun to sit outside in your winter gear on a snowy sunny day.

Existing Multi-Zone Audio System Upgrade: Richfield, WI

Existing Multi-Zone Audio System Upgrade for Home Theater

A client in Richfield, Wisconsin approached us a few weeks back that had an existing Russound multi-zone audio system. This home system did not have streaming features and had two zones which weren’t even functional on the main zone player. They also had several keypads which were non-functional and were interested in the ability to play music wirelessly, in multiple rooms in their house, through their iPads and iPhones.

Based on their needs, we were able to accomplish everything that they wanted to have, without over selling them on additional audio equipment that wasn’t going to add any value or functionality. I stress this point because at B.C. Neville Tech we look at each individual client and system, to design a custom entertainment system that fits their needs.

In this specific application, we removed the non-functioning multi-zone player and keypads, replacing them with a cost effective new Sonos system – a great fit for their specific needs.

The Sonos system allows you to play music, movies, and TV wirelessly in multiple rooms with zoning capabilities—you can play different songs in different rooms, or you can group all your speakers together to hear the same song throughout your home.

The Sonos sound system, with their small speaker design, has a crystal clear vibrant sound that automatically balances no matter where the speaker is placed in the room.

After install and training, the client was having issues with the system shutting down. We have installed nearly 100 Sonos systems in 10 years and have never come across this issue. Immediately we came out for a service call and were able to discern that their AT&T router was not compatible with the Sonos system. By updating their router to a compatible modem router, this solved the issue and the system has been working great ever since. Client is happy.
